LARRY L. WALDIE, Assistant Sheriff
Larry L. Waldie is a 31-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. He was promoted to Assistant Sheriff by Sheriff Leroy Baca on December 7, 1998.
During his career, Assistant Sheriff Waldie has been assigned to a variety of positions. Most recently he was assigned as the Commander of Pitchess Detention Center. There he oversaw the day-to-day operations of North County Correctional Facility, North Facility, South Facility, and East Facility. In addition to these facilities, Assistant Sheriff Waldie oversaw the Mira Loma Facility. Mira Loma is currently housing Immigration and Naturalization Service inmates under a federal contract. Assistant Sheriff Waldie's prior assignments as a Captain include Walnut/San Dimas Stations, Narcotics Bureau and Mira Loma Jail Facility. Prior to his promotion to Captain he worked a variety of assignments, including Planning and Research Unit at Custody Headquarters, Operations Lieutenant of Field Operations Region III, and Supervisor of the Crisis Negotiations Unit. He worked a variety of assignments in the ranks of deputy through lieutenant. Additionally he was the Vice-Chairman of the Law Enforcement Training Sub-Committee for the 1984 Summer Olympics.

Assistant Sheriff Waldie earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy from Don Bosco College in New Jersey and earned a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of La Verne. He is also a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's National Academy.

Serving the public in another arena, Assistant Sheriff Waldie serves as a Councilman for the City of Walnut and in his spare time, Assistant Sheriff Waldie enjoys golf and community involvement activities.
