| • WHO IS PROVIDING THE SCHOLARSHIP FUND? The Los Angeles Sheriff's Star Organization is sponsoring this scholarship fund to assist the children or legal dependents, as well as the current employees of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department. LASSO is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization with a broad member base composed of civic and corporate leaders committed to honoring the members of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department. |

| • WHAT ARE THE DEADLINES AND RELEVANT DATES? June 15, 2010: Scholarship applications must be post marked no later than this date. July 16, 2010: Notifications mailed to Scholarship recipients. |

| • WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP? Current employees of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department as well as their children or legal dependents who are not previous LASSO scholarship recipients, who are currently enrolled in or plan to attend college or trade/tech school, or will have graduated from high school by June 2009. These funds may be used to cover costs and expenses for a variety of higher educational institutions including college, university or technical school. Any child who meets the entrance qualifications and is admitted to the institution of his or her choice may apply to receive financial assistance from LASSO at no cost to the member. |

| • WHO WILL MAKE THE SCHOLARSHIP DECISION? A scholarship committee administered by the Los Angeles Sheriff's Star Organization will select the scholarship recipients. |

| • HOW DO I APPLY FOR A SCHOLARSHIP? You must have the most current scholarship application form. A typed application is viewed more favorable by the judges, so we strongly advise you to type rather than handwrite your application. Two letters of recommendation and your most recent transcripts are necessary to complete the application. The submitted application should contain the following: (in this order) 1) Application Form 2) Personal Statement 3) Two letters of recommendation (one should be from an official or supervisor at your school, and the other should be from someone other than a relative.) 4) Most recent transcript The application must be postmarked by June 15, 2010 and mailed
